Kids Company was the darling of the charity sector and Downing Street with its fundraising with celebrities and political connections. I was working in the charity sector at the peak of Kids Company’s success. Colleagues and peers were jealous of the success. However I remember how one of the corporate supporters I was working with were blown away by the work of the organisation to help some of the most vulnerable children in the UK.
Then it seemed to collapse almost completely overnight with a media furore. I wrote an article with my perspective on what had happened. However, it is only years later that I see the reality of events behind the headlines.
Unsurprisingly the Insolvency Service sought to make the leadership and management teams’ lives a living hell. Yet, no consequences other than a verbal roasting by the Judge.
The fact that the Insolvency Service operates with pretty much zero external accountability is a recipe for disaster! It’s time for accountability, time for change…. enter Citizen Intervention Global!!
I believe there is a lot more to come in relation to Kids Company and more importantly the Insolvency Service’s wrongdoing. How can the individuals at the Insolvency Service get it so wrong and there be no consequences? Swept under the carpet like they always do.
Very true, it’s the same with Paula Vennels and the Post Office. She was even winning titles as recently as 2019 when a lot of information as to what she and the post office did was in the open, at least behind the scenes. While I don’t want to see her life destroyed there needs to be accountability as those in the public would receive.
The reason these institutions and the individuals within them that abuse their power and position within them to harm and even destroy people’s lives is because the public spotlight is not on them. How many people have even heard of the “Insolvency Service” or know what they do? Yet that ignorance and lack of attention is allowing these departments to get away with near murderous actions because of the devastation they wreak on people’s lives. The case of Kids Company just goes to show how ruthless and heartless these people can and will be, that even with an organisation doing the work of helping desperately vulnerable and suffering children is fair game to them. The public need to speak up and support this as much as possible. What a abhorrent shame that something like Citizen Intervention didn’t long exist so that it could have supported Kids Company when it needed it. Let’s learn from this and make sure there are no more cases like that of Lighthouse and Kids Company.

The article shared is very thought-provoking. It’s clear from the comments that people are engaging and asking questions, and through that inquiry more will come to understand the truth about what the insolvency service and other organisations have done over the years, the injustices that have occurred, and the need for accountability and redress. This is exactly why Citizen Intervention Global exists — to give individuals a voice and to stand together in seeking justice.

Thank you for the update on this article on Kids Company and the note on cults and cultees, that’s going to be a big bombshell of truth I am sure. We are called to expose the works of evil in this world, not stand complicit in them. God bless and protect everyone who was involved in building Kids Company and may they truly receive compensation for the devastating attacks on them.
This clearly exposes the self-serving motivation behind the Insolvency Service. They hide behind processes and procedures while destroying the lives of innocent people, impacting individuals, families, and even the most vulnerable in society, such as the children affected in the case of Kids Company. Where is their care, their compassion, their humanity?
The way the Insolvency Service has acted in the Kids Company case is similar to what we’ve experienced at Lighthouse: an obsession with technicalities at the expense of truth, justice, and people’s lives. This kind of institutional abuse must end!
What the Insolvency Service single-handedly did to many, many children and the CEO Camila Batmanghelidjh, will always chill me and I am sure many others. This is another case of how seriously we need to take our duty to hold bodies and institutions accountable to the highest standard possible. Citizen Intervention Global is going to revolutionise the citizens experience with those who purport to serve the public!
Yes, evidently her life was shortened because of the immense stress caused to her by these punishing pseudo-investigations. The process is the punishment and the Insolvency Service is a huge perpetrator of this punishment with no accountability and consequences when they get it wrong.
Citizen Intervention is critically needed to prevent what happened to ‘Kids Company’ from happening to another company like it. This is just one case; how many others are lost in the system that we are not aware of? That is why Citizen Intervention is needed. We need to stand together as citizens to fight injustice. The case of Shaun Cooper vs the Insolvency Service is another.
We need to hold organisations like the ‘Insolvency Service’ accountable for their actions, and this is why Citizen Intervention is critically needed.
The attitude of government and especially of the Insolvency Service is to ‘shoot first and think later’.
There is no detailed investigation and no intention of working with organisations to amend and rectify any problems.
Their attitude is to destroy companies, not to help them. This needs to change because, in the main, companies are there to benefit society in some way, and have just made a mistake or procedural error.
So it should be a rare occurrence for the IS to close a company down when they find a genuinely malevolent exception.
The case of Kids Company just goes to show that these institutions like the Insolvency Service are not these wonderful public servants… far from it. There was no reason for them to go after Kids Company like they did.
In my opinion, someone higher up took issue with Camilla Batmanghelidjh, who was very influential and inspired a lot of trust from donors, and wanted to take her out. That’s just my theory, but when you look at what happened to Kids Company, it’s challenging to think it was all just organic regular incompetence… just like with Lighthouse.
The quiet before the storm, and I value the pointer to what happened with Kids Company, something good destroyed by ill intent, or at least by incompetence and face-saving actions. This affirms the need for intervention organisations that stand on behalf of the people, run by the people.
