Walking in the Spirit — Introducing Paul’s New Reflection on “The God Awareness Phenomenon”
In today’s special audio update, Paul S. Waugh shares from a place of deep stillness, rest, and spiritual clarity after a difficult few weeks of illness. What emerged in that quiet — what he calls the God Awareness Phenomenon — is one of the most intimate and profound teachings he has offered yet.
Paul reflects on what it means to walk in the Spirit throughout the day, to recognise God in all things — beauty, suffering, conflict, creation — and to return to that tiny, pure place in the heart where we first knew Him. Okay, I’d like to share a few things. I haven’t been on for quite a while, been pretty debilitated recently, but again, thank you for your support, your prayers, the growing, growing number of brothers and sisters in Christ that are… in your hearts praying and helping, sharing, commenting, writing, praying of course.
I just wanted to share something that’s very, very deep in my soul, very deep. I want to try and do something at least every day or if not every second day from here. I’ve had quite a lot of rest over the last week or two, so hopefully I’m about to do that, okay?
The Truth That Remains
I want to share something that’s deep in my soul with you. Often when you’re still, and you have no energy, what you are left with is the truth. The truth. And as our Lord, our God, our Father, our Commander in Chief, our Creator, has said that here’s the truth, and the truth that is Him will set us free. Free from what? Free from what is false, free from what is untrue, free from what is imperfect, more and more and increasingly so, into the kingdom and beyond.
The God Awareness Phenomenon
What I want to share with you deep in my soul, deep in my heart—while lying with not much energy, between sleeping, resting—is that I realized a phenomenon and that I call the awareness of God, the awareness of God phenomenon. Although sometimes I call it the awareness of our Lord, the awareness of our Creator, the awareness of our Father, the awareness of our Commander in Chief, our awareness of our mentor, coach, counselor, leader and teacher supreme, eternal and infinitely so.
I want to share about this phenomenon a little more. I spend my day in this mode, increasingly, in the spirit and in my heart.
And that’s important, those two words, spirit and heart. Because that’s where the trouble really is. Not my mind, not my body so much. The heart, you know, the body follows. The mind follows. The heart and the spirit, those twin forces. You know, treacherous. Or not treacherous. In the spirit of God, opposed to Satan.
Walking in Christ Throughout the Day
I go about my day in Christ, in prayer. And at the very, very least, which is a lot, in my awareness—my awareness of myself in Christ, my awareness of Christ in me, in my life, in my spirit, in my heart, in my soul, in my being, where my mind and my body can then deliver. You know, the body is a vehicle, the mind is a computer. The heart and the spirit is what makes us human, more than anything else. 99% plus.
It’s extremely hard to do that, I found. Like almost impossible to do it while operating from a treacherous place in my heart. A hardness. The basic treachery is hardness. The stone heartedness. Not the heart of flesh that Christ talks about. But the heart of stone. It’s the ultimate treasury. And it’s often there because we’ve felt the need to defend ourselves. We feel we need to be able to cope. But at a point, that hardness becomes cowardice. And I’ve lived with that. I’ve lived with that, cowardice.
And I’ve repented for that and continue to. And I find it all the time, a little more hardness, a little more stone, a little more darkness, a little more smallness that ought not to be there in the Spirit of God. And you can see that God is behind me, just guiding me to find these places in my own soul, in my own being, in my own heart.
And it’s a powerful thing to be able to walk in that phenomenon. Because it’s phenomenal. It’s a phenomenon. Walking in Christ. Walking in God. Walking in Spirit as an interdependent being in our Lord.
Seeing God in Everything
There’s a couple of things I want to share with you. I’m going to share with you a hearted thing that I do. A hearted, spirited thing that I do. And a mental thing that I do. Mental is the least. It’s secondary. It’s not primary like the heart, it’s secondary. The body is a vehicle and the mind and the brain and the neurological functions, cognitive functions, mental functions are what they are. They’re intelligent, biological computers.
When you see a beautiful painting, if you saw a Rembrandt, what would you think? You’re not going to look at it and not think Rembrandt, okay? And so it goes on. When you see a mountain, how many times do we see a mountain and immediately go, oh, God, God made that. God is the creator of that. How many times do we see a person in our lives, ourselves in the mirror and go: God.
I just like to share that the more I walked around seeing something evil and then seeing God there. As in, that’s what happens when God isn’t present. That’s what happens when God allows something to happen in order to teach us a lesson. And what I mean by that ‘teach us a lesson’, boy do we need lessons. And what I mean by that is God wants us to be in a place where we never have to experience that again. But He wants us to go through this life where we look back once in a kingdom and never ever want to come back here.
God never wants to come back here. Ever, ever, ever want to come back here. And if you are totally in love and your dreams are here, as mine were, then like when you’re living for this, you’re living on the Titanic and the Titanic is sinking every single day. He wants us to learn. He wants us to be so sick and tired of this place that we never, ever want to be back here.
So looking around us—tree, human, challenge, problem, something on the news—see God. What does God think of this? See God in every single beautiful, terrible, awful, horrible…. See the God factor in this. It’s so important.
That Pure Little Place in Our Hearts
Let me just talk a little bit of the heart and the spirit. And this is the most profound thing I want to share with you today.
To walk in the Spirit, to walk in awareness, to walk consciously in God and in our Lord. And that is to find in our hearts, when we are in the Spirit of God, it’s there. We’re not psychos, okay, when you’re in the Spirit of Christ. That goes. But what is left is this—beyond all the hardness, beyond all the treachery, beyond all the fear and the resentment or the hatred or whatever it may be, is this little tiny, tiny, tiny, tiny little bit of flesh, heart of flesh.
And that heart of flesh is a pureness, the pureness of heart that saw God in the first place. That little bit of pureness, to connect with that pureness and maybe not to necessarily even be talking to God but to seeing everything and seeing God through and with everything and to feel God through and with everything. To feel his love, feel his love as much as we can throughout the day, all day, every second ideally.
When we have decided that we’re going to feel a certain way with this pureness in our heart, connecting to this pureness of spirit that God, through His residence in us, and with us through his Holy Spirit, connects with. And when that holiness, that heartedness, that beautiful flesh, that heart of flesh that Christ speaks about—in other words, what He’s talking about is that little place in our heart beyond the treachery that’s there, that is pure. It’s that little pure place. It expands.
But to start there and to look with our spirit and go: What are we going to do with this mind? What are we going to do with this body? What are we going to do to serve? What are we going to do to make a difference? What are we going to do theochristologically, godly, human, material and financial? What are we going to do resourcefully? What are we going to do to help those vulnerable, those that are suffering? What are we going to do to be in a position as a body of Christ to never have to say no where we ought to say yes? That’s a beautiful thing. It’s a powerful, powerful, powerful thing.
I’ll share more on this. And there’ll be a little bit of a wrap-up on it as well. But I wanted to share this with you, my brothers and sisters.
Prayer
I’d like to share a prayer with you in closing.
Father, that beautiful little place in our heart, that all of us have, that are connected with you. It’s how we saw you in the first place. It’s how we knew you in the first place. It’s how we developed a cognitive insight into your being, into your presence, into your reality, into who you are. Where you are and what you want and what we want in you and you and us, this interdependent, synergistic, symbiotic and this in-sync reality that you created us as humans to indwell and dwell for and with each other.
Father, we want to thank you for that special little place in our heart that sometimes we have to look, look, look hard and feel hard and search our hearts, but we will find that little place that first found you. And that little place, that little priceless place, is eternal and infinite. That tiny little place is a portal to you, a portal to the spirit, a portal to the rest of the treacherous heart, and it starts to develop something very, very special.
Father, we pray for this week. We thank you for the last one. We ask you for your protection. We ask you for your love. We ask us to hold our unrepentant enemies accountable to the point where they become repentant and maybe find that place in their heart through your love for you and for their future in your kingdom. Help them to be able to open their eyes and see once that little place in their heart is touched.
We pray for our enemies. While we want you to hold them accountable, Father, we really want them to find you. We want the accountability to be so that they find you. And often, as with me, it comes through a lot of pain and suffering. I’m so grateful that you did that for me. To me. Through me. For me. And for many. Leaving me with this beautiful brethren. In you. With you. For you. For your purposes. In the kingdom. And soon the separation between sheep and the goats. The separation and the fold between evil and good, it’s going to happen. And I shudder to think of those who are going to be left behind, and I just don’t want them to be. Even our enemies.
What a wonderful thing to be able to sit down with an enemy, look each other in the eye, and thank You together in prayer? Wow. That’s a dream. That’s dream stuff, Father.
So we thank you for this, and we ask you, all the animals and children, children and animals in that order, of course, they’re so vulnerable, that are suffering, that need our help, Father. Please help us as your brethren, as your body, to never have to say no where we ought to say yes. Never have to say no, Father, where we, for your glory, for your purposes, based on your commandments, based on your charge orders, godly human material and financial, to never have to say no. For your glory, because you are glorious.
And being able to say yes for your purposes, based on your commandments, is nothing but glorious. So we thank you for this, Father. We thank you. We ask you with bowed head, bended knee. We repent. We ask you and we thank you for your forgiveness, in equal measure. And we ask this through your Son, in His name, Jesus Christ.
Amen.
Guys, if I don’t speak to you tomorrow or again, please have a good week. Sleep tight, sleep well. And wherever you are in the world, in God, look after you and yours. But always thinking how we can work together. Never have to say no. That’s what God wants. He’s asked us to do something. He wants us never to have to say no.
It’s what God wants for us. For him. For us. For those that are suffering. And that includes loving our enemies. It doesn’t mean not holding them accountable for heinous lies and trying to destroy their enemies through media or otherwise. It doesn’t mean not holding them accountable. It doesn’t mean not clearing your name of what’s false. And holding accountable to those who try to destroy. There’s no way around it.
But to want the best for them, to want God, and have God, and have a future in the kingdom, that is undoubtedly the most important thing ever, eternally and infinitely. So, you know, let’s just leave it there. God’s grace to all of you, and to all of us in the body, and in God’s will, the KOD [the Kingdom of Darkness]. Big old nasty KOD.

Wow. Thank you God and Hallelujah. Thank you Paul. Boy was this a medicinal audio / writeup. Thank you so much, you were literally speaking right to my heart. On this Lord’s Day I had spent some time, off the back of your work on the problems of separation from God and of sin, to break through the layers of my heart to know clearly what I ought to repent for, why and to have compassion for myself in doing so. This time last year, more specifically at Christmas, I experienced something very confusing, painful and what would turn out to be very liberating. But I was literally reflecting on how this year, to protect myself, I’d closed off a lot of my heart, to be stoney and cold and keeping others at distance. But that small part of my heart, is an utter grace and gift from God. As you were describing it, it was like finding a child in a small quiet corner of a giant house, tucked away to avoid the chaos, the trauma, the pain, the hurt and the darkness. But he’s there. And by the love of Jesus Christ, he is safe to come out of that corner. Also literally today I have been praying more intentionally to love and pray earnestly for my and our enemies, to really sincerely want to see and know them in God’s Kingdom and you put so many words to that feeling I’ve had. Thank you Paul, and to the brothers and sisters rallying together. What a way to start the new week. Thank you Lord. Paul, God bless and heal you to make you strong body heart mind and spirit. There is so much more here, I want/need to relisten and read, these are my initial thoughts and feelings. I’ll share more another time.

This moved me so much! Connecting to that little piece of that heart of flesh… wow, that is so moving. When we know we’re in Christ but may be suffering with that hardness, with cowardice, with fear or with uncertainty… to find Him in the stillness is so moving. It’s a reminder to me that walking in the Spirit and growing in God-awareness feels like the reset I didn’t know I needed. Thank you for this gentle but powerful call. Since reading this the first time, it’s been sinking in how little time I spend in silence with God and how much more a yearning I feel to do so. As you say, slowing down, listening more and walking in His Spirit. God bless you Mel.
I left university with a strong body and mind but I had absolutely no idea about anything to do with my heart and spirit.
Relationships were a complete mystery and I was spiritually completely blind.
These two huge deficits in my life prevented me from being able to build anything substantial since there was no humanness in anything I turned my hand and mind too.
It’s only since learning about Christ and how to listen to Him that the pieces of life’s jigsaw are beginning to make sense and the whole picture possible to piece together.

I can definitely relate to the focus on mind and body especially at the expense of heart and spirit
God bless Paul and this wisdom and prayer. Two things in particular really struck me. The expansion of the purity that is within us however small it is to start off with and God wanting us to not want the Kingdom of Darkness. I was thinking about how much we are conditioned to feel the need to compete or even want to compete in the KOD and how that focus takes us away and separates us from God so what goodness we do have in our hearts constricts. But to see God in everything expands the purity which is so needed in an incredibly impure world.
Great point about competition. So different to growing up to know our identity in Christ as stewards of this earth.

Thank you so much for this stunning prayer..we cannot underestimate how much we need to still, to ground, to connect with our Source. I spend so much time in internal chaos and I know now without a doubt that I can only find true peace in Christ and that’s why it’s means so much to be reminded that this little piece of my heart that is connected to Christ, is sacred and needs to be appreciated and protected. In prayer, in this connection, there I find peace and security. Thank you Father and thank you Paul 🙏

Really powerful audio and insights… the start reminding me of the portion of scripture from Psalm 46:10, Be still and know I am God.
What I appreciate is the need to go beyond stillness into truth, the reality of God. I value the differentiation between what it means to walk in the Spirit compared to being in the flesh. This is so counter to what we are taught growing up. We’re directed to focus on the mind and the body. I don’t recall anything relating to matters of the heart and the spirit. I’ve suffered as a result and trying my best to play catch-up through prayer. I’m learning that any transformation and regeneration of the heart can only be through our Lord. That is humbling given that I spent my whole life (magically) thinking I could change myself.
These insights need to be spread far and wide…

Thank you for this audio and article. Once again it feels so foundational, shedding light on what it truly means to be a human being and how much that understanding is missing today. We spend so much time in our minds, yet we rarely learn how to connect with and educate our hearts on a deeper level. I certainly didn’t grow up with that awareness.
With even a little purity in our hearts, we begin to sense God more clearly, appreciate His creation, and feel the love of Christ. That shift is so important, moving away from making everything about myself and instead learning to serve, care, and dare for others.
Especially in a world full of technology and AI, it feels more vital than ever to truly understand ourselves as human beings.

Wow. Stunning! What I found so most profound and that struck me the most from Paul’s sharing this was what he said about that tiny small piece of piety in the heart that is where we can find and connect with God, the place we first saw and came to know God in the first place and how this is something we need to consciously seek out and feed in order for it to grow. I find the way Paul has described that not only so moving and meaningful, but also practical in terms of where it’s helping to direct my and our awareness and to keep coming back to that as much as we can to get out of that biological computerised automated state we have all been so indoctrinated into by this ungodly secular system. That by earnestly and genuinely seeking God in everything and everyone around us from that pious, pure, Godly vestige space in our hearts, God will increase and mature us to that degree as part of our sanctification. It’s like the parable of the talents, rather than taking that value and burying it lest it get any less, or any darker, we use it and invest in it to enlarge and grow it with God as a conscious and purposeful practice. Thank you so much for this and god bless.
Relating this to the parable of talents is really helpful; primarily our Lord has given us human life. Secondary are the material and financial resources. Those primary gifts need to be nurtured very carefully.
What time the enemy stole when I was lost in a community where I didn’t belong within the occult, God has blessed me with your community and other communities that I have found. Only in caring for others as I aim to do in social work as a therapist in the future can I echo God’s heart for humanity. Whatever I do, I don’t want to be in that numb place of isolation and darkness again, so thank you for your guys’ ministry and all the thoughtful pieces you write!

I can’t explain it, but I always had a sense that God is real and that there was a tiny space it my heart that was sacred and precious. I never prayed and was very distant from having a meaningful relationship with Him. What Paul shares really does touch me and I pray that my faith and belief continues to grow stronger as I grow in my daily prayer life. I hope this resonates with many more Christian brothers and sisters too 🙏🏼
