Ed Campbell Helped Expose the Savile Paedophilia Cover-Ups —Then the BBC Hired Him. Why?
Good evening, fellow citizens and brothers and sisters in Christ,
Today’s update is about an 11-minute read.
“Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.” — Ephesians 5:11 (NIV)
Before Ed Campbell joined the BBC, he helped expose one of the darkest cases of serial sexual abuse in its history: Jimmy Savile’s paedophilia and the institutional failures and cover-ups that allowed his vile offending to remain hidden.
Mr Campbell was a senior news editor at ITN. Working with Lucy Manning and the ITV News team, he helped sustain the investigation into Jimmy Savile and the institutions surrounding him. The Royal Television Society recognised that work with its Home News award, describing coverage in which “revelation followed revelation, scoop followed scoop.”[1]
Then, in 2014, the BBC hired both Lucy Manning and Ed Campbell.
Why?
1. The BBC Brought an Experienced Investigator Inside
The BBC’s stated reason sounded admirable. Campbell became Editor, Special Correspondent. Jonathan Munro, then the BBC’s head of newsgathering, praised Mr Campbell and Ms Manning as multiple Royal Television Society-winning journalists who would combine hard and breaking news with a commitment to investigative journalism.[2]
On its face, this could have been a serious act of institutional reform. The BBC had been disgraced by Jimmy Savile’s decades of offending and by the failure to expose him while he was alive. Who better to bring inside than journalists with experience of pursuing that darkness?
But employment is not transformation. Recruitment announcements are not repentance. The real test is what changed after Ed Campbell entered the BBC.
Did the institution become more truthful, more transparent and more willing to confront wrongdoing within its own walls? Did those who had failed over Jimmy Savile face meaningful accountability? Did the culture that protected reputation, position and institutional power give way to a culture capable of confession, correction and repair?
More than twelve years later, the BBC must be judged by its fruit.
Huw Edwards was the figurehead of BBC News.
“So, every healthy tree bears good fruit, but the diseased tree bears bad fruit.” — Matthew 7:17
2. Keep Your Friends Close — and Your Enemies Closer?
There is another possibility, which is very feasible especially when it comes to the BBC.
The Kingdom of Darkness does not always destroy those who expose it by attacking them openly. Sometimes it flatters them. Sometimes it recruits them. Sometimes it brings them inside, gives them position and status, and gradually separates their talents from the purpose for which those talents once appeared to be used.
The worldly maxim is blunt: keep your friends close and your enemies closer.
Was that part of what happened here? Did the BBC hire Ed Campbell because it genuinely wanted an accomplished investigative journalist to help transform it? Or did it bring inside someone who had become highly effective at exposing paedophilia, concealment and institutional failure connected to the BBC?
This is a legitimate question arising from the documented sequence of events. Campbell helped expose the Savile scandal from outside. The BBC then employed him on the inside. We should ask what happened to the man, his investigative instincts and the institution during the years that followed.
The question is not whether Ed Campbell has produced good journalism while at the BBC. The question is whether his presence has helped the BBC confront its own darkness — or whether the BBC has absorbed his experience while continuing to protect itself.
If the BBC hired him for good reasons, where is the transformation?
How much does Ed Campbell fear for his livelihood should he call out the real atrocities within the BBC? Did he know nothing about the rumours circulating about Huw Edwards? Did he ignore them or did he investigate them? Those who work for the BBC know what happens when they start looking into the dark underbelly of the BBC.
What happened to Jill Dando again? What was she investigating?
The journalists Meirion Jones and Liz MacKean had pursued the Savile investigation that Newsnight dropped. (As an aside, Catrin Nye was also part of this Newsnight team in 2011 that covered up the Savile abuse, but she keeps very quiet about this).
After the Pollard review concluded that they had got the story right, Mr Jones recalled that he and Ms MacKean separately met Tim Davie expecting acknowledgement and an apology. Instead, he described the outcome as “new face, same suit.”[3]
As the BBC crumbles, what will Ed Campbell’s legacy be?
3. Ed Campbell Now Faces His Test
Ed Campbell has contacted Paul S. Waugh following Paul’s correspondence sharing his Open Letter: God Help You, Catrin Nye. What better person could there be to look into this than someone whose earlier work helped expose the Savile paedophilia cover-ups? He knows exactly how the BBC ‘assassins behind the art’ machinery works… both from the outside and within.
We will publish Paul’s open letter to Ed Campbell later this week; it’s a cracker!
In the meantime, Ed Campbell, if you or anyone else wanted a refresher on the BBC’s dark underbelly, then the public record speaks for itself.

4. We Challenge Ed Campbell and The BBC To Broadcast The Results of Our 5-Year Investigation Uncovering The BBC Savile Syndrome
The BBC has given us at Lighthouse Global a profound insight into who they are, how they operate and whom they employ. Through around half a decade of investigation and direct interaction, we have seen the BBC’s dirty-tricks modus operandi: their indoctrination, deceit, propaganda, dishonesty, gross deception and darkness — the whole BBC Savile Syndrome. What they have revealed has shocked us to our very core.
BBC Director-General Matt Brittin claims that more than 500 million people globally trust the BBC. That is plainly not true. Hardly anyone in the United Kingdom trusts the BBC anymore. But among those who still do, how many have been allowed to see what we have seen? How many have examined the evidence and proof we possess about the BBC’s conduct? None.
Ed Campbell and the BBC… we challenge you to allow us to use your reach to give us a voice.
Give us five hours to serialise the evidence and place it before the same audience that watched and listened to A Very British Cult. Allow us to showcase your deception, your evil, who you are, the character of those responsible and the people you employ. Then let us see how much trust remains when your audience has heard the evidence withheld from them before they were invited to judge and condemn us.
Why would the BBC expose itself to us as it has?
It has because it knows we do not possess its reach — and it has no intention of giving us access to it. Instead, it offered a little “right of reply” at the end, when the noose was already around our necks: a few last words to an audience that had been led towards the BBC’s predetermined verdict. That was not a meaningful reply. It was part of the media machinery weaponised against us.
The bottom line is that the BBC has revealed its character — and its lack of character — along with its dark, sinister soul and evil, malevolent underbelly. It never believed for one moment that this little group would survive what it unleashed. The BBC expected Lighthouse Global to be completely and utterly destroyed within months of its hit piece at most. Even if we endured, it calculated that we would remain unable to bring the truth before a mass audience. That is precisely why it insisted it would never give us the platform to answer it properly.
The BBC cannot afford to let the wider public see what its actions have enabled us to uncover. Our investigation and interaction with its people have shown them up. The only thing standing between the BBC and full public exposure — including a reckoning that could lead to its licence fee being withdrawn altogether — is an exposé placing this evidence before the world.
That exposé is coming, and it will happen globally. The BBC intended to destroy Lighthouse Global and silence our voice. Instead, it unwittingly put us on the map.
You are all in our prayers.
God bless,
Paul S. Waugh, Chris Nash and Shaun Cooper
Given Paul’s longstanding ill health resulting from the multiple Establishment attacks on him, these updates are generated by the team, drawing from Paul’s recent and earlier words and what we are working with here at Lighthouse. We ask you to keep him in your prayers as he builds strength and renews in our Lord.

This is a fascinating insight, especially the question of keeping one’s enemies closer. To have brought in Mr Campbell off the back of his involvement in exposing Savile’s crimes and abuses of children – as well as the coverup – is very revealing. Another piece in the puzzle of the BBC’s chronic Savile Syndrome. The more you look and the closer you examine, the more you see the evil of the BBC; unwilling to examine themselves, unwilling to face the truth of who they are and truly be impartial.
Wow, what an article…It’s definitely fascinating how the BBC employed Ed Campbell after exposing Savile…Your questions will open up a hornets nest of questions, looking deeper into why…
The BBC either block those who are exposing them, cancel them like John Lydon (Jonny Rotten) cancelling him from BBC radios and Top of The Pops, or not what you are sharing, hire them.
Very eye opening update, look forward to find out more on Ed Campbell…
This is a huge revelation! The BBC and their staff literally can’t help themselves. The more they do, the more they reveal themselves. For the five hours on Lighthouse in A Very British Cult, they had to make so much stuff up to fill the time.
Given what we’ve learnt about the BBC over the last 5 years, it would be hard to fit in all the facts and evidence we have on the BBC and the BBC Savile Syndrome!
Fascinating to read. The first thing I thought upon learning about Mr Campbell breaking the Savile scandal and then going to work for the BBC was how I could never do that. To go and work for a company that harboured Savile unless it had visibly and radically reformed… but the BBC has continued to harbour others like Savile in their ranks, long after Savile died. And there have been countless scandals going on there for recently too. So how could this guy go and do that, especially given what he must have learned and uncovered in that investigation? Certainly in my experience, the BBC tends to attract the immoral and the unscrupulous. Perhaps such appointments are things the MSM think others won’t pick up on? We must be vigilant and investigate all we can. I would hope I’m wrong, but just because someone helped break the Savile scandal doesn’t automatically make them a morally sound person. He could just as easily just be an industry mercenary. Let’s see.
This is damning for the BBC. At first glance I too would have thought that the BBC employing Ed Campbell would have been a real sign of reform by them. However it was performative. What happened to Liz Mackean is as disgraceful as it is shocking. Let us not forget that the BBC is our state broadcaster with a implied mandate ultimately for impartiality.
It’s fascinating how the big machinery of the BBC, as the mouthpiece of the Establishment, continues to try to hide its dark secrets. Going through the BBC Paedophilia and Sexual Abuse Register that was uncovered over the last five years is shocking and shows how prevalent abuse is inside the BBC and how many people were involved. I’m looking forward to the exposé that places this evidence before the world, and also to the open letter to Ed Campbell.
Very good articles, thank you guys. These people have dirty fingers and they want to act as if they are clean. The same standard of scrutiny used to expose wrongdoing must ultimately be strong enough to scrutinise the institution doing the exposing. That is where genuine accountability begins.
This is an incredibly interesting update, will Ed Campbell past the test? It is yet to be seen. Thank you for sharing these insights and for being on the front foot in holding those accountable who are responsible for these atrocities.
One of the tricks of The BBC is that they can collect ‘dirt’ on everyone – or more likely – they’ll just make stuff up and broadcast it! Within half a day they can end your career and completely change what your friends think of you. Especially if you are already in the public limelight as Ed Campbell is.
With this backdrop, the only way to really be able to operate is to acknowledge that the only true judgement worth considering is that from our Lord God. Once repentance is sought from Him, and only after seeking His forgiveness through Jesus Christ are we really free to hold fast to the truth and say it aloud.
This is why Christians are so hated and attacked, because we see through the nonsense.
It is astonishing to know this organisation still exist and are funded through their forced BBC licence…the institutional evil is like nothing you have seen before!
The more time had passed, the less I understand anyone who would want to work in television. Or for an organisation like the BBC at all. That enigma of Ed Campbell’s aside, why isn’t he helping by mediating or negotiating?
