Lighthouse Daily – 17th March, 2026
Good day everyone,
Yesterday we shared with you a very important, very sensitive and very timely article, Jeffrey Leigh-Jones – Victim to Scamtologist Predator – Part 1: How The BBC Groomed Jeffrey Leigh-Jones to Become Their Living Sacrifice.
Jeffrey was a former client of ours at Lighthouse, but much more than that. He was someone many of us considered a brother, a friend and someone who was at the foothills of building his life to the highest possible standards.
So how was it that Jeffrey was able to come to Lighthouse, invest in his own development, invest in others’ development, then throw it all away, sabotage his own success, and betray the very people who invested so much care, support, time and love into him?
Because there are two Jeffreys.
The first Jeffrey is the one most people see. It’s a work of fiction, a caricature… the one he presents himself as on “A Very British Cult”; a supposedly strapping young sailor, riding the high seas and going on adventures like his role model, Ernest Shackleton. Jeffrey wanted to present himself as the rugged, confident, athletic aspiring leader…. someone who would throw himself into taking risks, developing himself, overcoming barriers, befriending others, making noble sacrifices, while being a fiercely loyal son, brother and boyfriend all at the same time.
Except this Jeffrey is not real.
The second Jeffrey is the real one. Anyone who can see through his thinly veiled façade, will see the second Jeffrey. This was the vulnerable, scared little boy.
This is the Jeffrey who felt lost and abandoned by his dad and burdened by his mum who depended on him so much so that he felt beholden to her. In his words, he was a replacement husband. A sycophantic, infantilised, feminised boy is a tragic state that so many young men find themselves in. We will, through Jeffrey’s example, be sharing more about this tragedy.
This is the Jeffrey who tried to leave this world as a teenager by hanging himself in a forest, because he could not handle the reality of being around so many false, selfish, psychopathic individuals, because he had such sensitivity in his own heart. This Jeffrey was the one we got to know at Lighthouse.
This Jeffrey couldn’t be himself around his family. As he said to us on many occasions… he just couldn’t speak to them. What does it say about his family members, that those whom he ought to be closest to, he could hardly speak to? It was only through years of 1-1 mentorship and support did he tentatively venture into communicating with them. As soon as he did… they crushed him. This is when Paul recommended that he leave Lighthouse. He was deeply concerned and worried that Jeffrey was about to break, because he could not maintain the façade of the two Jeffreys any longer. We will be sharing specific conversations and recordings showing Paul’s true concern and care for Jeffrey, which the BBC deliberately and deceptively omitted from their programme.
The first Jeffrey was actually the little boy’s self-made bodyguard; a shell to try and protect him from anyone hurting him or abandoning him, like he had been before. He had to become a manufactured shell to be the man who could support his mother during her own depression and struggles. Yet, whilst at Lighthouse, gradually, Jeffrey felt increasingly confident in growing and healing the young wounded boy. As he said to his own dad in a letter,
“ My mentors Jai and Paul helped me see how my greatest weaknesses are actually my greatest strengths if I use them right, which completely made me feel empowered to use my life experience like a sharp tool to cut through to the core of people. What I once hid, I’m now proud to use when it’s called for.”
But when the second Jeffrey started growing, starting healing, starting coming out of the shadows…
That’s when the proverbial knives came out.
You’re changing.
You’re different.
You’re not the Jeffrey we once knew.
Who are these people you’re spending time with now?
Why can’t things be like they were before?
You’re spending too much time with Lighthouse.
You’ve got to choose Jeffrey…
Those proverbial knives were being held by the people closest to him, who claimed to care for him. But who they were really, were hostage keepers of the second and real Jeffrey. They knew if that little boy truly began to heal and grow, he would outgrow them and realise that they were harming him – and he might surpass and move on without them. Jeffrey’s family forced him to choose between Lighthouse and them. We never did. As you will see for yourself in the full letter from Jeffrey to his dad, which we will be publishing shortly, Lighthouse always encouraged Jeffrey to grow a healthy and mature relationship with his father and family as a whole.
Tragically, that second Jeffrey did not get strong enough and he buckled. He was terrified of losing his own family, more than he feared losing his freedom. Better the devil you know than the God you don’t, huh? So it seemed to Jeffrey.
But Jeffrey is not the only one like this. We all face this battle every day. The real you is deeply buried inside, yearning to come out. The simulated you is the shell, to try and keep you safe, instead of stepping aside to let you grow. That’s the Scamtologist who wants to fit in with the world of Scamtopia, to be like all the other Scamtologists, with the fake smiles and disingenuous laughter…
Our appeal to you is to learn from Jeffrey. Fight for the real you, defend the real you, and put the simulated version away. And while you’re there, if inclined, please keep Jeffrey in your prayers that one day he’ll wake up before it’s too late and save that little boy.
May God bless you, heal you and guide you on your journey,
Paul S. Waugh, Chris Nash and Shaun Cooper

Reading this is chilling. Those voices and messages that goaded Jeffrey – his own family – are something I know well in my own experiences. This is one of the big reasons why I don’t think that growing and developing, or personal development is this glamorous, easy, quick fix thing that so many try to sell. It’s not. It can be brutal. And if anyone is serious about making fundamental changes then, as Christ says, there are some things we need to absolutely cut off. That includes harmful relationships where people around us do not want us to grow and free our real selves. This is very sad and concerning to read. God help Jeffrey and – anyone trying to break free.
I really value this article, as I’m sure many of us can relate to those two sides within ourselves. Growing up, learning to take responsibility, and standing on our own feet is not easy. It often requires us to make difficult and sometimes painful decisions.
I pray for Jeffrey that he may find healing, nurture the “little Jeffrey” within, and come to recognise where he has gone wrong. While he has clearly been through a great deal, we are still responsible for not allowing our conditioned or reactive self to take control of our lives. However difficult it may be, we are called to choose what is right, even when that choice brings suffering.
Often, doing the right thing and suffering go hand in hand.
Thank you for this. May we all keep Jeffrey—and ourselves, where this applies—in our prayers. It is a tragic situation that, sadly, needs to be brought into the light, so that God’s glory may be revealed through it all. Amen.
It’s a tragic situation that Jeffrey has found himself in. He came to Lighthouse for very good reasons… to heal from the childhood trauma that he experienced as a scared little boy. His experience was not just traumatic because of what he experienced, but because of what he couldn’t express. It is suffocating when unable to express yourself freely, and Jeffrey willingly went back to that environment. This is tragic because of who he was looking to become through Lighthouse and the fact that his family wanted anything but that. May God help Jeffrey. I’m praying for him.
It’s such a sad situation. I remember Jeffrey Leigh-Jones sharing what he had gone through and I could tell he was benefiting so much from the mentorship he was receiving. So many authors in personal development such as Tony Robbins and Brian Tracy have spoken about the dangers of sharing goals with friends and family who feel jealous of the new found confidence they see in that person and want to drag them back. I believe the Australians call it Tall Poppy syndrome. Regardless of the name it is a satanic human condition and one we need to see in ourselves and be wary of it in others.
It’s such a tragic and poignant account of Jeffrey and how much his family exemplifies those that will do anything to prevent their own child/sibling from truly blossoming into their potential. I know that all too well from my own experiences and I really do pray that he will repent and seek the strength in God to help him escape that and be transformed.
This is so heartbreaking. It is relatable in many ways for sure, but the torment that you go through when you betray your inner child, when you sell out rather than caring for that child, when you bow to the pressure from other people even though you know it’ll be at your expense… that is a torment that I don’t wish on anyone. It is deeply painful and I hate to think how he – very likely – is wrestling with that guilty conscience now. Whether he has anyone to talk to about that or not is something else that will only compound it over time. God be with him and be a lamp to his feet, to guide him out of this valley.
Such a needed update. Thank you for sharing about the two Jeffrey’s and how this applies to all of us. There is so much we can and will learn here, having the example of a man who was manipulated due to his vulnerability, clearly shows how we need to be aware of our own states and not allow ourselves to be used and abused in the way Jeffrey has.
I will keep him in my prayers and pray for others who have fallen pray to predators like the BBC.
May God bless anyone who is in a similar situation to Jeffery.
We all have these two sides to ourselves and to bring forward the real self, the non-egoic actual human being, is a very real and painful struggle. That is the necessary price of growing up and away from our infant states, but unfortunately because so few do, no one recognises the signs of true growth that Jeffery was beginning to show. Family and ‘friends’ then attack rather than encourage.
Meanwhile, predators like those at The BBC, will capitalise on the pain of growth by offering some form of ‘relief’ by showering you with compliments and fame, but ultimately it it’s for their own glory – not yours.
I bet everyone who reads this will see themselves in Jeffery, so emotionally bought in to those around them that they don’t know different but to play the game. The little child in us so ignored but desperate to grow up. I can’t under estimate the importance of this piece, us seeing, healing and helping the little boy grow up. To see the dual self is deeply healthy.
This really hurts my heart to read and sit with. Jeffrey has been violated in every way by those who supposedly love him and claim to have his best interests at heart. Despite the breakthroughs he was starting to make, the healing that was starting for him, his family did everything they could to suffocate the progress in him….this is how evil toxic families can be and unfortunately, Jeffrey is still within it, being eaten alive by these people. We pray for Jeffrey and his family, to repent, to come to Christ where they can truly understand what love is and what it means to love another person truly.
