Today’s update offers a brief reflection, today’s prayer, and a current example highlighting the ongoing tension between truth, faith, and state power. As always, we share this in the spirit of prayer, discernment, and staying anchored in Christ.

Today’s Daily Prayer invites us into a posture of both heartfelt thankfulness and honest repentance before God. It reminds us that gratitude and humility are inseparable in the Christian life — gratitude for God’s faithfulness even amid suffering, and repentance where we have missed His way. May this prayer open our hearts to deeper truth, freedom, and renewed obedience to God.

Dutch Political Commentator Banned From Entering UK By Government – Freedom of Speech Under Attack Again
A deeply troubling precedent is continuing to be set in the UK, one that should concern anyone who values free expression, open debate, and basic democratic principles. Dutch citizen and political commentator Eva Vlaardingerbroek has been formally banned from entering the United Kingdom – with no room for appeal. This ban comes shortly after she made comments on the social media platform, X, criticising British Prime Minister Keir Starmer. The justification given by the government is stark in its vagueness: her presence is said to be “not conducive to the public good.” No clear crime. No conviction. No transparent standard. Just a political judgment about her views.
That phrase should alarm those concerned with freedom of speech and the importance of truth. When the Establishment through governments begin excluding people not for what they have done, but for what they think or say, free speech is no longer a protected right, it becomes a permission granted at the state’s discretion. Obviously free speech has limits and we do not condone anything that incites violence against anyone else. Eva Vlaardingerbroek has not done that.
Hence what makes this decision even more disturbing is the context in which it occurs. At the same time as peaceful individuals are barred for speaking their minds, the public is repeatedly told that the UK is powerless to control illegal entry or enforce borders consistently. The contrast raises an uncomfortable question: is speech now treated as a greater threat than actual lawbreaking?
This is how free speech erodes in practice. Not through dramatic bans on words or ideas, but through administrative decisions, vague, subjective language, and selective enforcement. “Not conducive to the public good” can mean anything and that is precisely the problem. Once such reasoning is normalised, it can be applied to journalists, activists, academics, religious figures, or ordinary citizens whose views do not align with the mandate – this is how a dictatorship forms.
History shows that censorship rarely announces itself openly. It advances quietly, framed as reasonable, necessary, or protective. But the result is always the same: fewer voices, narrower debate, and a public conditioned to self-censor out of fear of consequences.
This case is not just about one person being denied entry. Ms Vlaardingerbroek was due to speak at the “Unite the Kingdom” rally scheduled for May this year. Ask yourself what does the government not want to occur? Why block her? What is the goal? This is about whether speaking openly, even controversially, is still compatible with living in or engaging with a democratic society. If governments can decide that dissenting speech alone disqualifies someone from participation, then free expression is already on borrowed time.
We must take heed: when free speech becomes conditional, everyone is at risk, sooner or later. Silence in the face of these precedents only ensures that the boundaries will continue to shrink until speaking freely is no longer assumed, but feared.
4. Lighthouse Associates Consensus Feedback
The following feedback was shared with Paul by our associates at Lighthouse in response to a call Paul had with them yesterday.
We came away from this call shaken in a good way—grateful, humbled, and more aware of how much we still have to face, both in the world and in ourselves. What is being reinforced over and over is that truth is not just something we agree with or talk about; it is the measure of whether we are actually growing, actually loving, actually becoming adults in Christ. We see how easily we mistake activity, and even deceive ourselves and avoid legitimate suffering, insight, or a good emotional moment for real and permanent change, and how often our automation, minds, habits, and comfort quietly take the lead instead of the Holy Spirit.
Many of us are seeing more clearly how our upbringing, family dynamics, education and long conditioning inside broken systems shaped how we relate to authority, to challenge, to each other, and even to God. We’re also reckoning with how deeply indoctrination runs—through education, media, money, and institutions—and how easily lies are normalised when they serve power. What we see in journalism and policing, keeps reinforcing that even when truth is spoken plainly, it can be twisted, projected onto us, or ignored altogether. That doesn’t make us want to retreat; it makes us more aware of the cost of standing for truth and how necessary it is that we do, even when it’s destabilising and inconvenient.
At the same time, we’re seeing that the fight is not only “out there.” We avoid truth in ourselves when it threatens our comfort, our self-image, or our attachments—especially around money, security, and self-reliance. We’re beginning to grasp that all forms of value come from truth, not from systems, status, or survival tactics, and that suffering for the Kingdom is a privilege and part of how we are shaped to carry real authority and create what actually glorifies God.
We can feel the gap between wanting truth and actually embodying it, and that gap is humbling. But we’re also encouraged, because we’re learning that healing and repentance go together, that loving people while hating sin is a discipline we must grow into, and that Christ really does meet us in the places we’ve avoided addressing for years.
We’re deeply thankful for this community, for the patience and suffering that has gone into guiding us, and for what The Lighthouse represents—not just as a platform, but as a stand for accuracy, righteousness, and value in a world that trades in deception and falsehoods. We know we’ve not had a human foundation and have stood for very little in the past, and we’re choosing, again and again, to stand on the rock of Christ instead of on our own shifting ideas of what feels safe or avoids legitimate suffering and discomfort.
So we’re praying for endurance, for courage to face what’s costly, and for a deeper hatred of evil that is matched by deeper love for God and for people caught in deception, including ourselves. We want to want truth the way we want air when we’re underwater—not as a concept, but as something we cannot live without. And we trust that even in the mess, even in the waiting, God is at work redeeming what has been broken, teaching us how to grow up in Him, and calling us to keep choosing reality over illusion, love and legitimate suffering over comfort, and Christ over every system that claims to save but never could.

Hi everyone,
We’re becoming more aware that what’s unfolding among us is ultimately about truth itself—our relationship to it, our resistance to it, and the cost of actually living by it. What’s been shared this week has helped us see more clearly that truth doesn’t come cheaply. It asks something of us. It requires a willingness to sit with discomfort, to question our own motives, to give up comforting illusions, and to stop hiding behind distraction, busyness, or carefully maintained narratives.
Many of us can see how fearful and reactive we once were, and we’re not pretending that fear wasn’t real. But something is shifting. We’re beginning to see suffering differently—not merely as something to avoid, but as something that exposes what we love, what we cling to, and where our loyalties truly lie. Christ did not avoid suffering; He moved toward it in obedience to truth. That reality is humbling and confronting, and it’s showing us how resistant we’ve been—not only to suffering for truth, but to truth itself.
At the same time, there’s a strengthening emerging that doesn’t come from hype, certainty, or self-belief. It’s coming from turning toward Christ in the middle of confusion and discovering a steadiness that isn’t self-generated. There’s a growing recognition that much of what once felt like connection or security was actually shallow or borrowed. As those illusions fall away, it hurts—but it’s also waking us up.
What’s forming now is a quieter, more sober resolve: to build character rather than image, to develop discernment rather than rely on borrowed confidence, and to become people who can be trusted with truth. This is slow, costly, adult work. But despite exhaustion and uncertainty, there is gratitude here—gratitude for refinement rather than abandonment, for being told the truth rather than soothed with lies, and for a community learning to stay grounded in Christ as we press on, imperfectly but increasingly awake. x x
No coincidence they are banning Eva Vlaardingerbroek from attending and speaking at the UTK rally in May… not only do they not want the rally to succeed and bring people together, the establishment want people hating this government so ironically they can bring in more control over the people! It’s highly deceptive. God bless Ms Vlaardingerbroek – it’s also why Mr Starmer wants to ban X here in the UK, to deny the truth getting out. Enter The Lighthouse!
The cost of following Christ instead of the worldly systems of the kingdom of darkness is becoming more apparent every day. Through our learning, we are beginning to understand what it truly means to suffer—gracefully, earnestly, genuinely, and sincerely—in Christ. Alongside this, we are seeing more clearly how deeply the system is decaying, as shown in today’s citizen and establishment example.

Free speech which was already dying a death in this country is accelerating. I saw a stat that Britain has imprisoned more people for online comments than any other country in the world and now it’s stopping offline commentary!
The 1737 Licensing Act restricted political satire in theatres and was only abolished in 1968.
So for 231 years you couldn’t laugh or comment on politicians, their behaviours or policies.
Be aware of such measures coming back into force, and what is happening with X and Eva Vlaardingerbroek may be the thin edge of a wedge we have seen before.
The banning of Eva Vlaardingerbroek from the UK only makes sense when you realise that this is exactly the kind of thing that a Prime Minister and State seeking as much tyrannical dictatorial control as possible would do. The UK government calling itself democratic is about as accurate as its propaganda mouthpiece, the BBC, claiming it’s impartial. God bless Eva for speaking her mind and winning such an accolade. She is clearly speaking far too many inconvenient truths for this Prime Minister’s liking.
The fact that Eva Vlaardingerbroek is not allowed to enter the UK shows just how far the establishment is willing to go to silence dissenting voices. This is a clear attempt to suppress free speech in order to maintain control.
Such censorship must be called out. It increasingly feels as though we are drifting toward a society reminiscent of the book 1984.
We must not be afraid to speak freely. Free expression is a fundamental pillar of a free society, and defending it is essential if truth is to prevail. God bless Eva.
It’s uncanny, Keir Starmer bans someone from the UK for speaking out against him, yet he allows someone who has publicly stated he hates whites and has allowed him in and welcomed him. The establishment wants control, and they want to cancel anyone who goes against the grain

This is why The Lighthouse is so needed
It is here, control of the people is here. It is even more the case with her speaking at the Unite the Kingdom rally. It is deeply concerning, as it is very evident they are ramping up control mechanisms. What is telling is that they do not give a decent reason, leaving it as a vague comment. What is the establishment doing in the UK? I think they are now moving to undermine the government. It is pressing the call to build a groundswell of people who can influence such things.
One word that springs to mind in relation to the ban of Eva Vlaardingerbroek entering the country… tyranny!
I was initially pretty shocked at the abuse of power, but 100% not surprised given she is known for expressing right-leaning views. The “not conducive to the public good” reason given is so vague it’s farcical. The fact there have been rapists and murderers allowed to enter the country whilst people posting on social media have been imprisoned just goes to show the strategic windup that’s taking place right before our eyes. Keir Starmer’s doing a great job in causing civil unrest!
Eva Vlaardingerbroek is exactly the kind of voice we need right now — clear, courageous, intellectually serious, and utterly unwilling to submit to the establishment’s fear-based narrative control. The fact that she has been banned is completely damning. It exposes, in real time, that the government has no genuine interest in free speech at all — only in speech that stays safely within approved boundaries.
This makes what Keir Starmer said after Charlie Kirk was shot — about how free speech is valued and protected in the UK — ring completely hollow. The same goes for what he said to President Trump in the Oval Office. If free speech truly mattered, Eva wouldn’t be silenced for saying uncomfortable truths. If free speech truly mattered, voices like hers would be protected especially when they challenge power.
Banning Eva doesn’t make her wrong — it proves her point. It shows that the establishment isn’t interested in debate, persuasion, or truth, but in control. Thank you, Paul, Chris and Shaun, for naming this so clearly and refusing to play along with the lie. God bless.
I saw a report recently stating that UK police have arrested more than 12,000 people over online posts deemed hateful, highlighting this countries aggressive enforcement of digital speech laws. The agenda of Keir Starmer and his overlords has become extremely obvious….curb, control or shut down anyone who thinks and speaks logically and uses their voice to inform and educate about the establishment. This is not a surprise to hear about Eva…we are fast moving into something the UK hasn’t seen before.
