3. Today’s Daily “Christian and the Establishment Problem” Example
WARNING TO CHRISTIANS: WHEN THE STATE DECIDES YOUR FAITH IS “DANGEROUS”
This is not just one man’s isolated story. It is a warning for Christians everywhere…Renowned Christian apologist Dr Kent Hovind was sent to jail for nine years in 2007.
In the video below Dr Hovind shares he did not go to prison for tax evasion, as many were falsely led to believe. He says he went to prison because the state wanted him silenced. According to Dr Hovind, federal authorities in the USA spent years trying to shut down his Christian ministry, not because of financial crimes, but particularly his outspoken and highly influential opposition to the theory of evolution being taught to young children despite factual evidence that disproves the theory.
During his arrest, Dr Hovind claims the government seized his religious materials, including DVDs debunking the theory of evolution. To him, that was the real motive laid bare. Not money. Not paperwork. Truth opposing indoctrination.
He says he was eventually charged with “structuring”; withdrawing less than $10,000 at a time from a bank, something he claims he was advised to do by trustees to pay ministry expenses. Dr Hovind maintains this was not a crime and insists that the charge was used as a technical trap when nothing else would stick. At Lighthouse we call these technicalities “tricknicalities” because of how they can be manipulated by agencies when they need to find reasons to justify the actions they want to take.
Dr Hovind states that two juries initially refused to convict him, yet a judge later escalated what should have been a short sentence into nearly a decade behind bars.
These implications are chilling. When the state has the power to reinterpret ordinary actions as criminal, enhance sentences disproportionately, and pursue individuals relentlessly, free speech, especially religious speech, becomes almost non-existent.
Christians – and indeed any citizen who cares about free speech – should pay close attention. Around the Western world, governments are expanding laws around “harmful speech,” “misinformation,” and “extremism.” These terms are vague, subjective and easily weaponised. What begins as regulation quickly becomes suppression. What begins with fines ends in arrests. What begins with “public safety” ends with pastors, evangelists, and concerned citizens standing trial before courts.
Dr. Hovind’s warning is not just about himself. It is about precedent. When the Establishment, working through the judiciary, decides your beliefs are dangerous, it no longer needs to ban Christianity (or any belief) outright. It simply needs to criminalise the people who speak it boldly.
The lesson is stark. Freedom of speech is under attack. These individual arrests and imprisonments are test cases, warnings for you, the lesser-known individual. It is all a fear tactic! Every conscientious citizen must recognise that the same system that claims to protect society can turn its full force against those who refuse to conform to tyranny. This is one of the reasons The Lighthouse magazine is being launched. Stay informed. Know your rights. Speak wisely and do not be silent.
4. Lighthouse Associates Consensus Feedback
The following feedback is an extract of what was shared with Paul by our associates at Lighthouse in response to yesterday’s verdict.
“He who exalts himself will be humbled” kept coming to mind. God is not mocked, and He is still in charge. What unsettled us deeply was seeing, in real time, how truth can be bent inside a system like this. It was sobering to realise how easily good can be reframed as wrongdoing, how lies can be protected by procedure, and how human cost can be minimised with a few clinical phrases. It sharpened our conviction that clarity, context, and truthful witness matter more than ever — not spin, not theatrics, but reality.
Oddly, the verdict also clarified opportunity. What was meant to shut our work down has, in many ways, amplified relevance and reach. The angles of attack are now visible. The distortions are on the table. What has been twisted, omitted, or mischaracterised can now be addressed and answered. Rather than being a defeat, it is more like a dress rehearsal — a revealing of the cards before the real contest. We can sense that this will serve what God is doing far beyond what any of us could have planned. If anything, the pressure is refining resolve and sharpening purpose.
Emotionally and spiritually, we can see and feel the forging happening in us. There’s a growing steadiness, a quieter courage, a willingness to suffer without pretending it’s heroic or easy. Some of us are noticing old fears, automated reactions, and indoctrination being exposed and stripped back. Others are feeling a fresh defiance against evil, not in bravado but in grounded determination shaped by Scripture and prayer. The call keeps returning: keep our eyes on Jesus Christ, not on people, systems, or outrage. Stay awake. Stay repentant. Stay loving, even toward enemies. Trust that what looks like loss and defeat in the world can still be obedience and fruitfulness in God’s Kingdom.
We’re also deeply grateful — for being able to go home together, for peace where anxiety could easily have taken over, for marriages and families being protected, for brothers and sisters standing shoulder to shoulder in prayer, travel, notes, work, and encouragement. Sharing food afterward, laughing though exhausted, feeling covered by love — those ordinary moments felt holy. Paulie’s faithfulness, generosity, and persistence continue to humble us, and we’re aware how much God has used him to chip away at our blind spots and help us to grow up. None of this feels earned; it has been given by grace.
We’re under no illusions about the spiritual reality of what we’re facing. There is real darkness, real distortion, real hostility to truth and to Christ. Yet we also see God steadily unmasking what needs to be seen, disarming whomever believes they hold power, and turning intended harm into preparation for the months ahead and witness. We hold both a righteous resolve and a genuine prayer for repentance and mercy — even for those who oppose and misrepresent us. We want God’s glory more than personal vindication.
So we move forward growing in faith, tired, grateful, hopeful, and increasingly anchored. We believe this season is part of God’s commission and His forge in us. We don’t know exactly how the next chapter unfolds, but we trust the Author. We’ll keep seeking and telling the truth, loving one another, enduring well, and keeping our eyes fixed on Christ — believing and knowing that what He is building will outlast every temporary verdict in a man-made court.

God bless brother Kent!! How much he loves the Lord and he knew he would be “in good company” as he said int he podcast, in going to prison. It does reveal a) that the establishment will go to any and every length to instil control on everyday people, and that b) they cannot ever stop the love and light of Christ, shining in His people. God bless you Kent, I pray for your faith, love and humility – and to support you in your quest!
God bless Dr Hovind, he’s gone through an incredible number of ordeals and has received so much criticism from many that make assumptions. The fact that he moves forward and just wants to help fellow man come to Christ is really beautiful.
I really love the title of today’s update…Truth under trial, faith unmoved! That is spot on. Christ our Saviour was trialled standing as, for and in truth and was not shaken in His faith. He obeyed the Father’s will even to making the greatest sacrifice one can make.
I did not know the full details of Mr Hovind’s imprisonment and my goodness, as he said, they wanted to shut him up and they stopped at nothing to try and do so. Yet despite this grave injustice, they did not succeed in shutting him up, instead, as the BBC have done consistently well, they and the people involved in persecuting Mr Hovind, reveal their own sordid character for the world to see whilst trying to destroy the reputation of others!
Freedom of speech is under attack, for sure. This is a key lesson for us all. The authorities are not our friends, especially if we are a voice for truth. Kent Hovind, God bless you for your voice of truth, but we all need to be that strong. Once we come together, they cannot do that. Thank you for this message. x x x
Thank you for highlighting this case of sever injustice towards Dr Hovind. It shows that power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.
The situation with Kent Hovind is an absolute disgrace, but it reveals plainly the pathology and the anti-Christian world we’re in. It’s fascinating how they targeted his work on revealing how evolution is a theory and not a scientific fact. I remember when I first heard this and I couldn’t believe it because of the hardwiring indoctrination I’d received from school with all these posters on walls with apes and humans. Kent Hovind was one apologist who helped me to see the reality of Christ. At times I was moved to tears watching him share his experience in his interview with George Janko. It’s well worth watching.
Meanwhile I appreciate more facts, background and context being laid out in relation to the recent trial and verdict. I’m seeing increasingly how sparse the BBC and the mainstream media is when it comes to producing hit pieces compared to objective reporting. Increasingly I’m seeing the need to develop and exercise the quality of discernment in a world of deception. The advent of AI means that I need to be watchful and pray as Christ commands us.
Hearing more about Kent Hovind’s story and experiences once again shows how the establishment seeks to suppress truth in order to maintain control of the narrative. Nine years in prison for exposing falsehoods, phew.. God bless him.

Thank you for sharing this update about our Brother Kent, what he has been through all in the name of silencing him. This is a clear warning of what the establishment is capable of when we detour off their road, and we choose our own path and walk through the narrow gate to the Kingdom

God bless Kent Hovind, his case, assuming all the details are true, is an absolute travesty of so-called justice and profound example of how state institutions can be and are being weaponised. Especially against those the state wants to silence, discredit and persecute. Nothing can give Mr Hovind those 9 years of his life back which is why these situations need to be prevented and dealt as soon as possible by an independent citizen led body. This update gave me so much strength and perspective, especially the part about Kent Hovind and what happened to him. Seeing how his faith remained unmoved under trial reminded me that standing firm in truth isn’t easy — it’s costly — but it’s exactly what God calls us to do. It gave me real courage to support my husband and our brothers through the struggles they’ve been facing, because it reminded me that we’re not walking in fear or confusion but in faith and clarity, even when the cost is high.
