1. Today’s Update

Yesterday we shared an insight that almost no one would ever dare say out loud:

That every one of us as individuals are the biggest scammers in our own lives. More than any politician, journalist, boss, colleague or family member, or Satan himself, that we are the ones who deceive ourselves the most.

It’s exactly because most people will never, ever bring themselves to admit such a thing, that it is very easy to brush it aside. “Well if no one else I know, or no one in the media is talking about it, it can’t be true”.

Wrong. This is the social proof fallacy.

One of the biggest reasons that we don’t even admit the truth, let alone address it and follow it, is because we look to everyone else, or the majority, to tell us what’s “normal”, or what’s “healthy”.

The world will tell you the problem is only out there. It’s the government, it’s that radical extremist left/right wing group. We gauge ourselves, our standards and our value based on what we see around us. What does everyone else think? What is everyone else doing? Our family, our friends, our colleagues, peers, the podcasters and media personalities we follow? What about our pastor/religious leader?

If no one else is wilfully coming forward and admitting that they are the biggest scammer in their own life… it can’t be true, can it?

If over 8 million German Nazis were saying that Jews were society’s problem… it must be true, right?

If no one was really addressing the Muslim rape gangs in the UK that took place for over 30 years, it can’t have been that bad, right?

If 50% of students still enrol in university, it must still be overall a good thing to do, right?

Let’s try a small experiment… if you are a Christian living in a Western country today, and you woke up to the news that Christianity, like in many other countries, was outlawed…

Would you still be a Christian?

If it meant having a criminal record? Making it harder to get any kind of job? If it meant a prison sentence?

Or if you’re not a Christian, but you believe in two genders for example, and that became a crime, would you stick to your belief?

These questions are important, because they reveal how strong our consciences are, or are not.

And because when someone points out a truth, something you know could well be true…

Like, the biggest scammer in our lives are ourselves, not just those outside of us…

Do you accept it, or brush it aside? Do you look inside until you see the truth? Or do you look at everyone else and normalise it?

There are very few people, even if they are aware of them, who are willing to call out such truths. At Lighthouse we have been calling out such truths for over 20 years, but for it we have faced immense, life-threatening and life decimating opposition, attack and hatred from individuals, government agencies and the mainstream media. But at Lighthouse we know that the strongest and only truly unbreakable force we could build our lives and our work on, is the truth. That is why every attack that has been targeted on us, will be used in truth, to reveal their lies, their wrongdoing, and serve the needs of the Body of Christ and citizens across the globe (Genesis 50:20).

We have an immense body of ground-breaking experiential research work that we will be sharing in the coming weeks, but if you are interested in understanding some of the contemporary research into self-deception then we recommend starting with the following:

• Weinstein (1980) showed that people display “unrealistic optimism,” systematically believing good outcomes are more likely for them (and bad outcomes less likely) than for others, suggesting a built-in tendency to mislead ourselves about reality.
• Taylor & Brown (1988) reviewed evidence that “positive illusions” (overly positive self-views, exaggerated control, and optimism) are common in normal thinking, implying that everyday self-perception is often biased rather than strictly accurate.
• Festinger & Carlsmith (1959), building on Festinger’s cognitive dissonance theory (1957), demonstrated that when people act against what they believe, they often change their attitudes to justify the behaviour—i.e., self-justification that can become self-deception.
• Kruger & Dunning (1999) found that people with lower skill in a domain tend to overestimate their ability because they also lack the insight to evaluate themselves accurately, showing a robust form of self-misjudgment.
• Mezulis et al. (2004) (meta-analysis) summarized evidence for the self-serving attribution bias—people disproportionately take credit for successes and explain away failures—supporting the idea that we protect our self-image by distorting our own story.

2. Today’s Escamlishment Problem

Christians in the West often assume religious persecution happens somewhere else — in authoritarian states or distant regimes. But a disturbing reality is emerging inside modern democracies.

What happens when quoting the Bible becomes grounds for a police interrogation? When expressing a traditional Christian belief leads to criminal charges under laws originally designed for war crimes?

This is not theoretical. It is happening now.

The case of Finnish parliamentarian and medical doctor Päivi Räsänen reveals how peaceful religious expression can trigger years of legal investigation, court battles, and public pressure — even after courts rule that no crime was committed!

The deeper issue is not just one individual. It is the growing use of legal processes, justified under the banner of the “public interest,” to silence beliefs that challenge the Establishment narrative.

Hearing your examples about the subtle ways systems and authority figures guide choices challenges us to look carefully at our own assumptions and habits — from the way we process news to how we make everyday decisions.

The biblical parallels you shared, Moses, Joshua… really resonated. We saw the call to not just stay safe but to engage with courage and purpose, even when it’s uncomfortable. Many of us recognised that awakening isn’t gentle: it’s like regaining sensation after numbness — painful at times, yet undeniably alive. This helped us understand the mix of frustration, sorrow, and even exhaustion we felt during the call as part of movement, not failure.

Practically, we’re noticing the need to integrate what we’ve realised into daily life: questioning our aimless struggling, confronting avoidance patterns, addressing suppressed wounds, and committing to intentional, disciplined action. Your guidance reminded us that transformation is about steady, integrated growth — aligning belief, action, and community around enduring truths rather than quick fixes or temporary insights.

The call highlighted how none of this is a solo journey. We’re learning together, questioning together, and supporting each other as awareness grows. What stood out powerfully is the combination of clarity, responsibility, and hope you emphasised: that intelligence, purpose, and moral agency aren’t lost, only obstructed — and through awareness and faith, they can be recovered.
